What is Reiki ?
Reiki is an early 19th century Japanese spiritual healing tradition that can benefit the body, mind and soul. The term has become synonymous with “universal life energy” in the Western world, and the practice aims to bring spiritual, emotional, mental and physical balance to the patient. Reiki practitioners do this by allowing the energy of the universe to flow through their hands and into the patient.
Master Level Reiki healers use four basic Reiki symbols to stimulate and enhance the healing process. The Reiki symbols are:
- Cho Ku Rei: for energy gathering and focus;
- Sei Hei Ki: for cleansing and conditioning;
- Hon Se Ze Sho Nen: for distance healing and time therapy
- Dai Ko Myo: for spiritual healing
Students of Reiki undergo a Reiki attunement, where the Reiki teacher ceremonially imparts the Reiki symbols to the student. Similar to tuning a fork, the teacher “attunes” the student after activating and embodying the desired energies. The Reiki teacher can also use meditation, sounds and other techniques to help raise the students’ vibrations. Students can then effectively channel the universal life force energy and become practitioners themselves.
Reiki attunement ceremonies are typically held in class, and students may also need to make some dietary, lifestyle, emotional and spiritual changes to maximize their abilities.
The importance of choosing the right instructor is tremendous, but so is the willingness of the student to reconnect with spirit, and expand her energies. Learning Reiki is an adventure that will open doors to new life pathways. Ready to learn? I’m ready to teach you. Contact us today.
